TSSA has issued an advisory to clarify the conditions in which unapproved fuel equipment can be in operation while it is going through the Field Approval process.

All equipment covered under O. Reg. 212/01: Gaseous Fuels, O. Reg. 211/01: Propane Storage & Handling, and O. Reg. 213/01: Fuel Oil shall be approved before it can be offered for sale, sold, leased, rented, installed or put into use. However, TSSA recognizes there may be existing equipment operating in Ontario that may not have received the appropriate approval.

While enforcing the regulations and recognizing the need for companies to continue with their daily business, TSSA will consider variances that will allow companies to operate their unapproved existing equipment – defined as equipment that has been operating in situ for a considerable period of time - until the appropriate approval from TSSA has been obtained.
